BLACK FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 2025 | 5-8 PM – HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Please join us on Black Friday, November 28, 2025 for GIFTED VI, our 6th annual “Gift of Art” holiday affordable art exhibition. Tout This is our BIGGEST and most festive and inclusive show of the year, and has been guest curated this year by Phil Simpson – Detroit’s “Chief Smile Guy”. Featuring 80 local and invited international artists and over 200 works of affordable, original art, the show is designed to bring people together and encourage art-giving for the holidays.
GIFTED VI launches with a traditional Open House Reception on Black Friday from 2-7 pm and runs through Sunday, December 21, 2025.
General Hours: Thurs-Sat 12-7 pm + Sun 12-5 pm.
| Each year, the gallery invites a different curator to help organize the exhibition as a means of relationship-building within the arts community and, often, mentorship. This year’s curator, Phil Simpson, needs very little introduction. Known best for his smile brand – which can be found on public walls, canvases, merchandise, and children’s books – Simpson has over thirty murals currently installed throughout the city and was the owner of the popular Baltimore Gallery in Detroit’s North End. This year, the holiday show saw its largest number of submissions yet and the curator was tasked with reviewing close to 400 art entries. Works were selected from emerging and high-profile artists alike, primarily from Metro Detroit but also hailing from Ohio, Philadelphia, Oklahoma, and even Africa. In this show, art enthusiasts can expect to find hidden gems that are valued for much more and opportunities to collect early works by promising emerging artists. A wide range of styles and media, generations, and cultural influences are represented, with prices ranging from $50-$500. Enjoy cocktails and financial health and investment tips with NASP professionals, featuring Curtis Lyons. 3-6 pm. – Sat, December 6th – GIFTED VI is open during Donald Calloway’s annual Cheap Wine & Chicken art party at Calloway’s art studio: 2363 W. Grand Blvd., 7 pm until. Admission $5 or a bottle of cheap wine. – Sun, December 14th– Glogg & Cookie Artist Social. This is an intimate opportunity to view the exhibition and meet the artists. Bring your favorite cookie (optional) and sample the gallery’s signature hot holiday beverages! FREE to attend. 2-5 pm. – Sun, December 21st – Soft closing reception and last day to see the show! 2-6 pm. |
